Still stuck in the old way of starting a business?
When most people think of starting a business, what comes to mind are the overhead costs, the time it will take to run their business and conflict of interest. Everyone planning to start a business have this firm belief that for a business to be successful, it must have a physical address and full time employee or employees. They also believe that they must deal in physical products.
If you are one of the people who think this way, then you are still living in the past when it comes to business sense. We are now in the 21st century and business, has made a 360 degree turn around, where business beliefs have been shattered, and new beliefs are being nurtured. We now have several ways of doing business.
For example, picture this; Davis, an accountant wakes up anytime he feels like, switches on his laptop, connects to the internet, logs on to his website’s’ mail box and begins to respond to emails from interested clients, or better yet starts text chatting live with visitors to his website while still dressed in his pajamas. One of his website visitors is really interested in some work being done for him, it will take about 4 hours to get the job done, so Davies shuts off his live chat and gets to work. In exactly four hours, the job is done, a text message on his cellphone confirms payment has been made and just like that, he takes a rest to start the process again the next day. Some of his neighbours actually wonder what he does for a living, his landlord even thinks he is a thief and has asked the caretaker to keep an eye on him.
The above scenario sounds far fetched, but there are several people in Kenya leading such lives, some even getting contracted by clients from overseas and getting handsomely paid.
So how does one get started? First step is getting an online office, in other words a website.
